Financing Your Surgical Tech Training

How will you pay for your surgical technologist education? We'll guide you through the world of loans and scholarships.

Do You Need Financial Aid?

Most Americans rely on financial aid to fund their education. School is expensive, and if you're like most people, you probably aren't in a position to pay cash for your career training.

Fortunately, the federal government believes educated citizens are stronger, healthier and more productive than those who are not. It therefore offers qualified students long-term loans with an interest below most market rates.

As an Everest student, you may be able to qualify for many of these federal loans as well as other instruments that can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket costs.

Types of Financial Aid

There are three basic types of financial aid you can pursue:

Student Loans. These are cash loans provided by the federal government that carry low interest rates. You must pay these loans back over time, but monthly payments may be adjusted annually as a percentage of your actual income. Scheduled payments don't begin until you have completed your education.

Scholarships. Scholarships are cash awards that can come from various sources, including Everest itself. Scholarships are usually based on academic achievement, need and other factors. Scholarships do not have to be paid back.

Grants. Grants are similar to scholarships in that they are cash awards that do not have to be paid back.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

At Everest, we try to make the financial aid application process as easy and painless as possible. To apply, here's what you need to do:

  1. Speak with a Student Finance Officer
Call and speak with one of our knowledgeable student finance officers. We'll gather some personal and financial information from you either by phone or email. Then we'll send a package of information and financial aid forms to you.
  2. Complete Your FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a single application that allows you to apply for a variety of government grants and loans. As part of this process, you'll apply for a PIN, or personal identification number, and electronic signature. These will keep your personal information safe and secure when you apply for financial aid online.
